A Visual Arts class was arranged for S3 students to participate in the activity \u201cOpen the Box: Home Sweet Home\u201d held at the Tai Kwun Contemporary on September 24, which is a durational spectator-led installation co-created by a UK-based artist collective, Abigail Conway Lucy Hayhoe. The installation invites students to participate in building a miniature cardboard town, fostering a temporary and socially engaged community experience. Students may choose a plot, buy a house, and decorate it as they wish.<\/h6>\n
More than just a DIY activity of creating houses, this project encourages students to engage with the evolving nature of community and home.<\/h6>\n
In building the house, students will be part of a growing \u201cminiature town\u201d taking shape at Tai Kwun, and may interact with their new neighbors, decide on street names, and work together to address shared neighborhood concerns through mail services and a community radio station. They will see firsthand how their contributions shape the ever-changing dynamics of this experimental community.<\/h6>\n
Students shall work in groups of three to build the model houses. Through this hands-on, participatory project, Tai Kwun and the featured artists invite students to redefine the notions of \u201chome\u201d and \u201cneighborhood\u201d\u2014fostering inclusivity, connection, and a deeper understanding of what it means to build a community from the ground up.<\/h6>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
