Biology field trips

This academic year, the Biology Department has organized field trips to Mai Po and Cheung Chau for S4 and S5 students taking Biology as an elective.
Wednesday, January 21, 2026, a group of forty-one S5 students accompanied by teachers visited the Caritas Chan Chun Ha Field Studies Centre in Cheung Chau for its “Terrestrial Habitat” field study and research activity. During the session, students worked in groups to conduct sampling, environmental data measurement, and other activities, in which they have learnt to use instruments for measuring environmental factors, the sampling methods, and the techniques for bringing samples back to the laboratory for further analysis.
Thursday, February 5, 2026, a group of fifty S4 students accompanied by teachers visited the Mai Po Nature Reserve for a field study. During the visit, students gained an understanding of wetland types, ecological characteristics and significance, whilst learning the proper use and precautions for using binoculars. They also became acquainted with common bird species and plant life found in Mai Po. Many students demonstrated a genuine appreciation for the beauty of nature throughout the experience. This is exactly the occasion value formation is incorporated into subject knowledge.
