Honorary Lecturer Scheme

A Popular Science Lecture in the 2nd year of the Honorary Lecturer Scheme was held in the morning of March 15.

Professor Zhao Guochun, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Geologist and Professor of the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Hong Kong, gave a lecture on “Assembly and Breakup of Supercontinents and its Environmental Effects” to S4 students taking Geography for introducing the concept of supercontinent, the origin of the three supercontinents, and the environmental effects of assembly and breakup of supercontinents.

The lecture enabled the students to further understand the unique characteristics of the Earth and the influence of the scattering of the supercontinent. Academician Zhao’s clear and lively presentation let students have a deeper understanding of the mysteries and evolutionary processes of the Earth, and marvel at the uniqueness of the Earth.
